Acceptable Use and Anti-Spam Policy

Version in effect on .

In short

  • Use Pilotiko only for lawful activities, without harming anyone or the service.
  • A commercial email requires the recipient's consent, your identification and a one-click way to unsubscribe.
  • Pilotiko automatically removes unsubscribed, bounced or complaining addresses; risky sending may be suspended.

This English version is provided for convenience. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.

1. What is prohibited

2. Commercial email and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)

A commercial electronic message (email, text message, social media message) may be sent only if all three conditions are met:

  1. Consent: express (the person agreed, through a clear action, to receive your messages, and you can prove it: date, means, wording of the request) or implied in the cases provided by law (for example, an existing business relationship of less than two years). A pre-checked box is not express consent.
  2. Identification: your business name, a valid mailing address and a way to contact you appear in every message.
  3. Unsubscribe: a simple, free mechanism that works for at least 60 days, processed without delay and within 10 business days at most.

You are responsible for your recipients' consent. Pilotiko does not currently record the proof of that consent for you: keep it on your side.

3. What Pilotiko does to help you comply

4. Suspension when sending is risky

To protect recipients, the shared sending reputation and other customers, we may suspend your sending, in whole or in part, when risk signals appear: high bounce or complaint rates, invalid or disposable addresses, complaints received, misleading content. As a benchmark, mailbox providers consider a complaint rate above 0.1% or a hard-bounce rate above 4% critical. A suspension is reported to you with its reason; sending resumes after correction (for example, cleaning the list).

Today, the automatic protections in place are removal of unsubscribed, bounced and complaining addresses, and the daily cap. Automatic pausing based on bounce and complaint rates is being integrated; until then, such a suspension is decided by our team.

We may also suspend an account that breaches this policy, in accordance with the Terms of Service.

5. Report abuse

Received an unwanted message sent with Pilotiko? Use its unsubscribe link, then write to us at [À COMPLÉTER: courriel de soutien, ex. [email protected] — donné à Google comme courriel d'assistance] attaching the message. You can also report it to the Government of Canada's Spam Reporting Centre.
