LinkedIn and Pilotiko: publishing the posts you approve
The only social network for which Pilotiko has written a publishing connector.
Pilotiko's LinkedIn connector publishes an approved text post on the LinkedIn profile of the person who linked their account, using the openid, profile and w_member_social scopes. Status: Being commissioned: the connector is written and tested against a test server; it has not yet been verified with a real account.
In short
- Status: Being commissioned: the connector is written and tested against a test server; it has not yet been verified with a real account.
- Scopes: openid, profile and w_member_social.
- Text-only posts, public visibility, on the linked person's profile (not a company page).
- Nothing is posted without a version a person has approved.
- Never a simulated post: without a real connection, the status says so and nothing goes out.
What does the LinkedIn connection do in Pilotiko?
It lets Pilotiko publish, on the linked person's profile, a text post you approved on the editorial calendar.
Pilotiko drafts your posts and prepares a version for each channel. For LinkedIn, once that version is marked approved, the connector can publish it. It first reads the person's identifier from the OpenID /v2/userinfo endpoint [2], then sends the post to the Share API with POST /v2/ugcPosts [1].
Worth knowing: the author is the member who linked their account (an urn:li:person identifier). LinkedIn documents w_member_social as required to create a post on behalf of the authenticated member [1]. So Pilotiko does not post to a LinkedIn company page; it posts to that person's profile. Posts are text only, with no image or link preview, and visible to anyone on LinkedIn.
The connector never pretends. If the link is a simulation, the token has expired or nothing is linked, it returns a clear status (not connected, simulated connection, reconnect this channel) and nothing is posted. A post counts as published only when LinkedIn returns its identifier.
- openid: tells LinkedIn the app uses OpenID Connect to authenticate the member [2].
- profile: returns the member's lite profile: identifier, name and photo [2]. Pilotiko uses it for the author identifier and the LinkedIn · First L. label.
- w_member_social: required to create a post on the member's behalf [1].
- What waits for approval: every post. Without a version approved by a person, the connector refuses to publish.
How do I connect LinkedIn to Pilotiko?
Decide who will be the author: the person who links their account becomes the poster. If Pilotiko has not switched on its LinkedIn app yet, the card says so instead of showing a button.
- 1
Open the LinkedIn card
In Pilotiko, Connections page, Social networks and advertising group.
- 2
Click Connect
Pilotiko creates a one-time request tied to your business and to you that expires after 10 minutes.
- 3
Authorize at LinkedIn
LinkedIn shows openid, profile and w_member_social; accept with the account that will post.
- 4
Approve a post
On the editorial calendar, review the LinkedIn version and approve it.
- 5
Publish
The connector posts the approved version and stores the identifier LinkedIn returns, or shows why it was refused.

How is your LinkedIn data protected under Law 25?
The LinkedIn token is encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and never written to a log. The label shown in Pilotiko is LinkedIn · First L.: never the email address or the technical identifier. Quebec's act requires consent that is manifest, free, enlightened, for specific purposes and asked in clear, simple terms [3]; every scope is therefore explained in plain words before you connect.
Posting in someone's name affects their reputation, which is why the person who links the account is the one who posts, and each post goes through approval. See privacy and security.
Revoking: Disconnect erases the tokens in Pilotiko and logs the action. On LinkedIn's side, the pages we read do not describe how to remove an app; check your LinkedIn account settings.
What limits are specific to LinkedIn?
LinkedIn caps sharing at 150 requests per member per day [1]. LinkedIn only issues refresh tokens to apps approved for them; without one, the person has to reconnect when the authorization expires. No real LinkedIn account has been tried yet.
A personal connection also exists, in simulation, so each employee can share what the business publishes from their own profile, always after they agree. For other networks, see Facebook and Instagram; for your website, WordPress; the full list is on Integrations. Meetings that follow a LinkedIn conversation go through Zoom or Google Calendar.
Frequently asked questions
Does Pilotiko post to my company's LinkedIn page?
No. The connector posts to the profile of the person who linked their account. Company-page posting has not been built.
Can a post go out without my approval?
No. The connector only publishes a version marked approved by a person. Rejected or in-review versions stay in Pilotiko.
Can I attach an image to a LinkedIn post?
Not today. The connector sends text only; add the image by hand if you post yourself.
Why do I have to reconnect LinkedIn now and then?
LinkedIn only gives refresh tokens to apps approved for them. Without one, the card switches to reconnect when the authorization expires.
What does Pilotiko see of my LinkedIn profile?
Your identifier, name and photo, through the profile scope. Pilotiko only displays LinkedIn · First L., never your email.
Does the LinkedIn connector already work with real accounts?
Not yet. It is written and tested against a test server; a first try with a real account is the step left before it can be called available.
