Pilotiko for roofing contractors

A Quebec roofer sells all winter what will be installed in a few months, and one rainy morning can undo a week of planning.

Pilotiko helps a Quebec roofing contractor fill the installation season, move jobs quickly when the weather turns, assign crews whose work-at-height skills are on record, and follow shingle or membrane quotes through to signature, with nothing sent to the customer without your approval.

In short

  • Quotes sold in winter become jobs scheduled week by week, with each crew's workload.
  • A rain day is rescheduled by moving jobs into genuinely free slots.
  • RBQ subclass 7.0 and your insurance appear on your website.
  • Work-at-height skills can be required for assignment.

What does a roofer's year look like in Quebec?

Shingle and membrane installation happens mostly in the warm season, from late spring to fall, and that's where most of the revenue is made. Winter changes the work: inspections after a leak, roof snow removal, emergency repairs and, above all, selling next season.

The real challenge is rain. A wet morning cancels the planned job, and every customer moved wants to know when their turn comes back. Without an up-to-date calendar, the office spends the day on the phone rebuilding the week by hand.

Which rules govern roofing work?

The RBQ licence (subclass 7.0) for the company, and the CNESST's fall-protection rules for the crews.

The RBQ places roofing in subclass 7.0, Contractor – Insulation, waterproofing, roofing and siding, in Schedule III [1]. The OPC advises customers to check the contractor's licence and civil liability insurance [3].

The CNESST (in French) treats the guardrail as the reference means of protection against falls. It must be within 300 mm of the edge, including the sides of a roof, and is required wherever a worker could fall more than 3 m in general cases [2]. The CNESST also mentions temporary guardrails for one-off work such as clearing snow from a roof [2].

How does Pilotiko reschedule a rainy week?

In the Pilotiko calendar, each job ties together the customer, address, crew, duration and resources such as the shingle trailer or the material hoist. When rain cancels Tuesday, you move the jobs; Pilotiko only offers slots where the crew and the resource are free, and refuses overlaps.

Assignment uses the skills you record, such as modified bitumen membrane, shingles or work-at-height training. A crew missing the required skill isn't offered unless a manager overrides it. Workload after each job shows as a percentage.

The dispatch agent prepares the list of customers to warn about a delay; your team confirms and calls. In winter, the quotes agent drafts quotes from your square-foot prices. See how the AI agents work.

What objections do homeowners raise?

  • "You can't come before August?" Showing real weekly workload makes the answer credible.
  • "You promised June 15 and it rained." A quick confirmed postponement with a real new date heads off the complaint.
  • "Why two days for a small roof?" Your detailed quote explains tear-off, installation and clean-up.

Frequently asked questions

Which RBQ licence do you need to redo a roof?

Subclass 7.0, Contractor – Insulation, waterproofing, roofing and siding. It is listed in Schedule III of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec.

What does the CNESST say about guardrails on roofs?

The guardrail is the reference means of fall protection, placed within 300 mm of the edge. It's required above 3 m in general cases, and from 1.5 m when the worker is handling a load.

Can Pilotiko move all my jobs on a rain day?

You move them, but Pilotiko only offers dates when the crew and equipment are free and refuses overlaps, so you never promise the same crew twice.

Can customers book a roof inspection online?

Yes. An inspection is a short fixed-length service that suits the booking link. Large jobs go through a quote instead.

Does Pilotiko notify customers of a rain delay?

Not automatically yet. The agent prepares the list of affected customers and your team calls them. Text and email sending is being commissioned, with nothing sent yet.
